Invisible Stranglehold

A cold wind blowing from China,

Whispering the first doom

of the third millennia.

As it seeps through every stronghold,

Fills every lung with gloom,

invisible stranglehold.

Winter comes for Europa.

From Atalanta to Valencia,

It freezes Germania.

New bane of Reino de España.

Not-so-Great Britannia,

Au revoir Republic of Francia.

Midnight falls in America

As the ships sailed to California,

Taking your grandpa and abuela.

There is no moon above New York,

Suddenly the city stops to work

and the people ready their pitchfork

The sun sets in Asia.

Horror in the church of Korea,

Empty the holy cube of Mecca.

No laughter in Bali

and Jakarta slowly feels sleepy,

Perhaps this is just a bad movie.

Starless sky above Africa,

Vultures flock together waiting,

As cities descent into paranoia.

Spreading faster than Ebola,

Yet the king sleeping, uncaring.

Saying: "It is just a Fata Morgana".

A frosty breeze sweeps the Earth,

A tragedy, lifetime worth.

Hopeful as the world unite,

Masked soldiers wearing all white.

To fight is to be lonely,

To restore humanity.

Note: To remember those who are affected by COVID-19 global pandemic.

Last Friday, March 27th 2020, I went to a nearby mosque, not knowing that they had canceled the mandatory prayer. There I saw an almost empty carpet-less floor which looked so surreal, since normally it would be packed. Only then I began to actually realize how real and how serious the situation is.
